Shayla is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and functional medicine nutritionist with a passion for making complex nutrition issues make sense. Shayla practices with a Health at Every Size philosophy and emphasizes intuitive eating and mindfulness through her nutrition care plans. With all of the conflicting and attention-demanding nutrition information available in this digital age, Shayla aims to consolidate information and make healthy living more simple and less stressful.

Shayla obtained a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences and completed her Didactic Program in Dietetics at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and has been working in the nutrition field as a registered dietitian in the greater Seattle area since 2019. Wanting to broaden her perspective to include more holistic modalities, Shayla studied at the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy to become a Functional Medicine Nutritionist. Shayla is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the practice group Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine.

Shayla utilizes a whole-person approach to nutrition, observing and addressing the body as well as the mind and the environment to create a well-rounded and evidence-based approach to wellness. She views food as an ally, something that should be exciting, delicious, and nourishing in every way. Shayla believes that integrating mental health and self-understanding into a nutrition plan is vital in establishing healthy patterns that can be sustained over a lifetime. Shayla is dedicated to creating individualized nutrition plans and to providing support for each person feel empowered to take control of their own health.

Outside of work, you can find Shayla tending to her garden and chickens, practicing yoga, cuddling with her cats, and spending time with her partner, family, and friends.
