Aster Galloway, MS, CN, RDN

Pronouns: she/they/them

Aster graduated from Bastyr University with a Master of Science degree in whole foods nutrition. Aster’s area of focus is eating disorder treatment and recovery, where she has worked for the last several years.

While in her previous positions, she used an integrative and functional medicine approach to create healing, non-judgmental, eating environments for patients while she worked with them to match their personal nutritional needs to menu plans and cooking. Aster received two promotions during the time she was with Center for Discovery in Bellevue which led to her working with clients while the main Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) was away, prior to completing her dietetic internship. In addition, Aster organized and taught group counseling sessions titled Body Acceptance, Mindful Movement, and Self Esteem.

Aster completed the Southwestern Dietetic Internship with Indian Health Service where she received further training in eating disorder treatment through Rosewood Center for Eating Disorders. In addition to her internship and experience working at Center for Discovery, Aster completed clinical training in nutritional therapy at Bastyr Center for Natural Health as a student clinician, at Sea Mar South Park Community Kitchen as a nutrition lead, and at Florencia de Mora & Virgen de la Puerta Hospital in Peru as a nutrition intern.

Aster serves as a respectful and gentle guide for adolescents and adults seeking treatment in eating disorder recovery, helping to direct them away from disordered eating thoughts/behaviors and body dysmorphia, while improving clients’ relationships with food and their own ideas of self-image. Aster also sees clients for metabolic issues, gastrointestinal disorders, and other nutrition-related problems.

Aster’s nutritional approach is guided by a Health at Every Size (HAES) philosophy and that it is not our size that determines our health but our lifestyle. She also practices Intuitive Eating principles which encourages clients to eat in a flexible manner that honors internal hunger cues. Aster’s end goal with every client is creating peace with food and body.

Aster is happy to work with people of all cultural backgrounds, sexual identities, and orientations, providing an all-inclusive, physically and emotionally safe space for members of the LGBTQ community. Every client is treated with respect and will receive the same high-quality standard of care.
