- 5 ounces blueberries , fresh or frozen
- 1/4 cup maple syrup , pure (Grade B)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- A pinch lemon zest
- cinnamon , pinch (optional)
- nutmeg , pinch (optional)
- Heat 3 ounces of blueberries, maple syrup, water, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes or until the berries begin to split.
- Cool and serve over pancakes or favorite dessert.
