The Starkel Nutrition Blog

Please Welcome Our New Administrative Assistants!

You’ll see some new faces the next time you’re at Starkel Nutrition!  Please join us in welcoming April Smith, our new full-time administrative assistant and office manager. Recently hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, where she was born, grew up, and raised her four boys, she is embarking on the next adventure of her life down here.  Last September, accompanied by son number three, she took the plunge and drove to Seattle to try something new!

April has been in the medical administrative field for more than 15 years and loves meeting and helping people. She will help you with scheduling, supplements, navigating ChArm – our electronic health record and client messaging portal, and anything else you need.  Billing is still generally handled through our biller, Anna, available at admin@starkelnutrition.com or through messaging her in ChArm.

April enjoys reading, walking, being with family, long conversations, social dancing (i.e. West Coast Swing, Country 2-Step, etc.), is currently in the process of finishing her undergraduate degree (which she started many moons ago), and learning. Introduce yourself when you call or come in.  She looks forward to meeting each of you!  You can reach April at admin@starkelnutrition.com or through ChArm.

Makala Thurston is our part-time administrative assistant. She moved to Seattle following her graduation from Central Washington University in August 2016, and completed her undergraduate degree in Food Science & Nutrition. She has plans to go back to school to obtain a masters degree in nutrition by the end of the year.

In her free time Makala loves to cook, read, go dancing, camp, play with her tarot cards, socialize, and hang out with her little black cat, Onyx. Makala fits right in at our clinic due to her belief that food is medicine, and she sees nutrition as one of the most valuable tools in prevention as well as healing. Please say hello to her next time you come in!  Makala is in the office on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons as well as all day Saturdays and can be reached at admin2@starkelnutrition.com and on ChArm.
