Julie is the founder and owner of Starkel Nutrition, a medical and nutritional counseling clinic with master’s level nutrition specialists in areas including brain health, oncology, diabetes, high cholesterol, autoimmune disease, gastrointestinal health, stress and nutrition, and eating disorders, among other concerns.
Julie is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Dietitian (RDN/CD), a member of the American Nutrition Association, Entrepreneurs Organization Accelerators (EOA), and is a former executive board member of the national practice group Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine. She is an avid learner and takes advantage of continuing education opportunities frequently. Although she is no longer taking on new clients, she trains and advises the nutritionists in her clinic, consults with corporations, creates nutrition programs, and speaks for groups – large and small.
Julie now focuses on developing programs, to reach more than a one-to-one practice could, managing the clinic, and developing the wonderful providers she is lucky to work with.
Julie’s education includes a BA in International Political Economy from The University of Michigan, an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird Global School of International Management (Arizona State Univerity), and a Master of Science degree (MS) in Whole Foods Clinical Nutrition from Bastyr University, where she also completed her dietetic internship. Previously, in her former career in international business, she lived and worked in South America and Europe for nearly a decade. Her professional background includes the fitness, food, and nutritional supplement industries.
Personally, Julie enjoys hiking, skiing, yoga, meditation, swimming, cooking, and learning about the body. She has completed a marathon and two triathlons and is very goal-oriented.
