Berry Kefir Smoothie

Fermented dairy products are associated with better cardiovascular health outcomes including reduced blood pressure, increased HDL cholesterol and reduced risk of heart attack. Yogurt is a well-known fermented dairy product, but have you ever tried kefir? Kefir is a fermented milk drink that contains beneficial bacteria and yeasts that give it a delicious tang! Add it to a smoothie with a variety of frozen fruits for a delicious snack.

Prep Time/Cook Time: 5 minutes
Yields: 1

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic plain kefir

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries

  • ½ frozen banana

Directions:

  1. Blend all of the smoothie ingredients together in a high powered blender until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.
Notes:
Option to add a scoop of your favorite protein powder for a more filling smoothie.
